Land borders with Indonesia Malaysia on Borneo Island, with Papua New Guinea on the island of New Guinea and East Timor on the island of Timor (former part of the province of indonesia). Other neighboring countries are Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, and the Union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. Indonesian history much influenced by the other.
